As long as we're guessing, my guess is that the card does not do 24 bit at it's maximum resolution. If it could only do 16bit at 1600x1200, that would take just under 4mb. The phrase "1600x1200 up to 24 bit" should be taken as two separate statements; it can do 1600x1200, it can do up to 24 bit.
