The update to OT 1.1.2 (which definitely works with 7.5.3/7.5.5) was not simply a swap of extensions; It also modified the Shared Library Manager (ASLM). The update required OT 1.1 or 1.1.1. It could not be installed over OT 1.0. Once OT 1.1.2 was installed, you could not just decide to go back to a previous version by re-installing the old extensions. I would hope that if it were practical to go beyond 1.1.2, then Apple would have issued an installer, but maybe that's just wishful thinking. All of this suggests that you shouldn't expect installing the version from 8,1 to be straightforward. But it seems like the only way to find out would be to try it.
