Check the completed auctions on eBay. I recently picked up two in NJ, all
slots filled with 4 MB SIMMs, 500 MB drives Radius video and Asante MC3NB
cards, without CDs for $25. Probably not what you wanted to hear.

Here in Silicon Valley, home of Q950s, these wonderful old machines are
turning up in great numbers, and the usual starting price at liquidators is
around $30.

At that price, most liquidators can't give 'em away, so they reduce the price
to $20, and finally to $10.

When they reach $10, I'll usually buy a few just for the parts.

If they don't sell within two weeks at $10, then they're usually crushed.

My latest and greatest purchase from one of these liquidators was a 9150/120
for $45.

This machine included 136 MB of RAM (8 MB soldered on the mobo, 128 MB in 16
MB SIMMs), a DDS-2 tape drive, a 24X gen-u-wine Apple-branded CD-ROM in place
of the usual, for a 9150/120, Apple 600i CD-ROM, and the "unobtanium", and
infamous "five drive shelf".

No hard drive was included at that price, but just the "five drive shelf"
alone was worth $100, going by eBay prices, and that Apple-branded HP DDS-2
drive was also worth a pretty penny.

Had a Supermac Thunder/24 for "millions of colors" on a 21" monitor, and an
FWB JackHammer UW-SCSI controller, too.

Most Q950s, WGS 95s and 9150s are worth more dead than they are worth alive.

Oh, in case someone's interested, I have developed a great mod for the 9150
which allows the floppy to be replaced with a Zip.

This might be of interest to installations with newer machines as these don't
come with (nor do they support) floppys, but they do come with Zips.

Contact me off-line for more info.

Peter.
