Hi,
I have been trying to get a neighbour connected to the internet
usingfree ppp and or the mac internet connection kit with various degrees
of failure. However once I had installed freeppp 2.5 I managed to make a
'guest' connection to a UK based ISP abelgratis with the intention of
signing up.
All worked well until I had progressed part way into the sign up
and then I was rewarded with a 'type 1' error and the collapse of netscape
2.00 which disappeared off the screen. What is an error type 1 ? Undeterred
I tried again this time at roughly the same point netscape 2.00 froze and
only switching the mac off and then on again could move it.
I'm wondering what is wrong. Is it the nature of Netscape 2.00 to
freeze like this or is there perhaps an alternative possibility. The mac
also has Mosaic on it . I wonder if for the purpose of signing up Mosaic
may be better?
The macintosh is a performa 630 running mac OS 7.5.3 and 20MB of
memory.
Any suggestions welcome
regards Steve Jarvis
