Thank you. That works much better than a hard reboot.

I went to change this but the Apple Guide says "On your computer, 32-bit
addressing is always on (you can't turn it off)"
Anything else I can try besides finding newer programs that open my older
documents (Word, Excel, Works, in particular) I'll be looking for new apps
in a couple days, but not critial at this point.

Go figure. I found the MacTrans program like 2 minutes before you replied.
But the FAQ is quite useful and I'm going through it now. Thank you.
