If they are all scsi you can use scsiprobe to find out what the model #s are, and then cross-reference with the spec sheets on the manufacturer's website.
For example: I have an Apple-rom'd IDE cd-rom, it's made by Matsushita (Panasonic) and it's model # is CR-589-B. I go to www.panasonic.com and look it up, and it's a 32x.
