Why do some members of various lists feel the urgent need to post their complaints to the list instead of to the original person they are complaining to? (see below, names removed because the real posters are just symptoms).

First, when you take a person to task in public, you are just asking for a flaming response.

Then I gotta get on both of you.

And as nanny, I often have to make a point when a flame war is erupting. That means I have to do it in public.

First, please put yourself in the other guy's shoes.

Second, please read <http://lowendmac.com/lists/netiquette.shtml>. Then read it again.
Then, put yourself in the other guy's shoes. Try to make suggestions in your off-list communications, rather than demands.

Third: Take it off-list. Simple. Off-list garners no banishments.

IF (yeah, I'm shouting, but only one word) you really do all that, and you can't reach a civil, mutual agreement, please drop me, or the appropriate list nanny a note.  I didn't post a URL for service manuals.  I just directed him to A's
 site since he referred to it in his original post.
