I have a frustrating problem. I have put a Sony CDROM model CDU415 in a LaCie external enclosure to connect to either a Q840av or a Q 950. The CDROM works, spins, and all that and I have it set to ID 4.
It mounts sometimes and sometimes it won't. I startup and PRAM it and the unit mounts with a CDROM in it. If I then restart and try to put a CD in, the CD will not mount on the DT. I believe this is a good CD drive and pretty fast but I wish I could get it to work. I feel I am close but I am missing something, problem one little small thing, either software or something else. I have OS 8.1 on the 840 and 7.6.1 on the 950. Yes I have it terminated using a termination pin next to the ID pin Thats what the diagram says anyway. Calls it the "Term" pin. I also have a pin on the Allow/Prevent as well as the "2" pin. The CDROM now shows up as ID 4. Can anyone give me any ideas how to make this thing work? Missing software? Perhaps a third party doodad? Mounter software, something? Byron -- Quadlist is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
