To satisfy your curiousity... It is an internal file/mp3/backup server for my other 4 machines (2 wired + 2 wireless). Occasional dyndns FTP server. I've got it running headless with Timbuktu and have the drive spin down as well after 5 minutes. I gave NetBSD a whirl on a Q605 for fun and to see if it would be any quicker but it was basically the same speed as far as network file transfer speeds. According to this article, http://www.lowendmac.com/backnforth/010409.html I should be able to speed up xfer rates by running Surfdoubler/Speed Doubler and PowerShare. So I'll be off looking for speeddoubler to give it a try. Any leads on where to find speeddoubler these days? Of course much of this is a test to push these toys.
