I have been told, I think on the Vintage Mac list, that 68040 machines
cannot encode MP3s but could decode them. I downloaded a 2.8 meg MP3,
then installed QuickTime 4, which says it can play the file. When I try,
however, QuickTime begins, then gives an error message, and stops. I
have assigned the maximum RAM to QuickTime 4, still without success.

Does anybody know an MP3 player or decoder that will work on a 68040
25mhz Centris 650 with 100 megs of RAM? Are there any MP3 encoders that
will run on 68040?

Thanks,
Ted Parks
