Hallo! Just a silly query, really. For some time I've had a 601 PDS upgrade card and a Quadra 800 lying around the house. The card never worked in the machine - installing it and turning on the Q800 results in the HD going through all the motions but no startup chimes.
I've recently found out that there were two versions of this card - one for 040 PDS machines and one for the LC PDS machines. Is it possible I have a card for the LC machines? Do these cards fit in the same slot but simply not work? I have no LC or another Quadra to check on. I got the card last year from Vicki on this list and she assured me it worked in her Quadra, so I am at a loss to explain the whole thing, other than the card was damaged in transit or my Quadra is dodgy. Any advice would be appreciated, especially any tips on how to identify the two versions of the 601 card. The reason I ask is that I am about to donate this machine to a friend who will use it to write her short stories and so on and I would like it to be as fast as possible.
