In fact, no. Of course, there's many different descriptions, and
everyone can use its own variant, but from standard/whitepaper's point
of view, there's only one correct meaning.

In case you're interested, visit IEEE site; at
http://standards.ieee.org/getieee802/portfolio.html page you can find a
plenty of official Ethernet documents, and for example, "IEEE 802®:
Overview & Architecture" PDF contains an 'Abbreviation' section (page
6), where it states:

MAC - medium access control, media access control (Both forms are used,
with the same meaning. This standard uses "medium.").
