Hello, everyone. I'm attempting to resurrect an old Quadra 630, so far without success. I put in a 4GB hard drive from a beige G3 and installed Mac OS 8.1 on it, but it won't boot. I get the happy Mac for a moment, then the question mark icon.
It boots fine from the Mac OS 8.1 CD. The HD mounts with no problem, and Disk First Aid says it's OK. (The drive was initialized with the standard file system, not the extended, so that it could boot a non-PowerPC Mac.) The battery is dead (a new one is on order), but I thought that this model Mac would start up without a good battery. Any ideas? TIA, Bob G. -- Quadlist is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
