Some weeks ago I rescued an old performa 475 (a.k.a LC 475 / Quadra 605) from some garbage. I love this desing without screws...
I was thinking about giving it some new life as a small web server and disk copy station. So far I've replaced the cpu with a full-fledged 68040, installed a new rom battery, System 7.5.3 with OpenTransport and MacTCP. Have also tried to install Apple's ethernet drivers...
Now I obtained an LC PDS Ethernet card, which has some ICs labeled: SSI PDS A1 C9947 TA89017.1 SSI NB256 V1.0 004010 Unicom 2F16-01 9538
I have also put a picture at: http://www.binaryspirits.com/pics/lcpds.jpg
However, I can not get any ethernet connection.
The green light on the card near the RJ-45-connector is on when connected to my hardware router. The router however does not recognize the card. (only that there's "something" connected to it and powered on).
I'd guess this is due to a missing driver, altough I'm new to this Classic Mac (pre-OS X) thing...
Can someone help me identify this card and -maybe- send or point me to a driver?
Is there any way (maybe a little programm) to check the status of installed PDS (ethernet) cards?
Or maybe some of you have any other suggestion?
I'd prefer not to shell out another 20 bucks or so for another ethernet card - I'm only a student...
Thanks.
Niels
