Somebody over on the PCI list mentioned something about software you can get
from Apple that resets the internal monitor settings.  You may want to do a
quick search on the PCI list.

I've never done it myself, so I know nothing more than that somebody said
its possible, and somebody else reported that it fixed their problem, which
yours sounds similar too.

How's that for non-committal help? :-)
