Marathon II and Infinity both are able to run on '040s... which is what THIS mailing list is about, 68040/68LC040 Quadras.
I remember running Marathon II on my Mac Quadra 605 back in the day. It ran OK except when many aliens were in the scene shooting and sounds were going. Then it would get all slow and the screen would step-frame on me which got really hard to play. 36mb Ram, 1mb Video ram. Now I have inherited a Quadra 700 with a Daystar Video Accelerator board installed so it can display millions of colors. 68mb Ram and a 1gb drive. I am eager to try Marathon II and Infinity out on this machine!
I have also since replaced the 68LC040 with a full 68040 in the Quadra 605. Anyone think this will provide a noticable speedup? Or should I just plan on using the Quadra 700 from now on.
