Well, I just pulled my brand new old stock LC-580 out of the box, and I found out some good and bad things about it:
1. I cannot boot from any of 3 original Mac OS 8 CDs, two are 8.0, one is 8.1. However if I boot from a Disk Tools diskette, it is fine. If I try to boot from CD, I get a sad mac, error "0000001 000000F" (this is with one single banked SIMM installed, for a total of 8mb) The only thing I can figure is the clock battery being dead, which it is. 2. This thing will take WAY more than 52MB of RAM I currently have 100MB installed, and both are double banked SIMMs. I don't see any kind of instability whatsoever. Can anyone explain either of these phenomena? Thanks! Julian -- Quadlist is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
