Weird first time I visited that I got a login page, then it worked.
the pipe + virtual table + policy language model allows a level of
policy management that doesn't exist in any other bgp stack that I'm
aware of. It's very neat.
It turns out in practice that most of the virtual tables in a production
route server will end up having much the same contents as each other, hence
the optimisation.
Note, in terms of storage, Quagga does the same thing. Identical AS_PATHs
and attribute objects overall are shared via a common pool, across /all/
RIBs - LocRIB, client-RIB, and AdjIn/Outs.
If I understand that page right, you have to manually specify the
groupings by configuring peers in a set of tables, and best-path is run
per virtual table? Is that right? (And if enough peers are similar (e.g.
promisc) in policies, then #virt-tables will be << #peers, then win).
?
