Bought a brand new Webber carb off evilbay to replace the one on the CVH 1.6 in the Coupe.
However when it arrived and was unpacked there are a few differences: Firstly there are two pieces of electrical gear with multiplugs on them on the near side of the carb, I assume some sort of idling/fuel economy set up. Secondly there is no vacuum advance take off for the distributor at the base of the carb on the rear. Thirdly the vacuum secondary butterfly mechanism has a take off on it's body but the original carb looks like it is all internal and does not have the take off visible. The overall physical proportions of the new carb look to be the same as the old one, the mounting bolts, the air cleaner, fuel supply position etc. it's just the items above. I think the electrical items could be removed fairly easily, however the other two items I'm not so sure on. I have to assume that this carb is from a slightly more modern CVH than the one in the Q. The reason I bought it was that it was so much cheaper than a webber rebuild kit, however I did think it would be a reasonably quick job to replace but now not so sure. Has anyone fitted a later carb to an early engine? if so what did you do for the ignition advance mechanism and where did you take the secondarly throttle butterfly take off from? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Quantum Owners Group" group.
