The nice old couple who reckoned that there were only 127 made had a red MK2 Saloon with a 1.6 Diesel engine, they live near Wellesbourne,Warwick & had built the car many years ago, they both were still very enthusiatic about thier car & had covered 120,000 + miles in it, but new that Vince Orme had done in excess of 200,000 miles. Having believed what they had told me I was suprised to find my Saloon was Q4-205.
I believe that somewhere near the 450 mark is correct for the 2+2's, the old Smartgroups used to have a list of owners & thier cars & I seem to remember the highest chassis no. was around Q2-450 ( my 2+2 is Q2-253). As you say it would be interesting to know production figures, the 2+2 is of course still in production, as most of us saw the new body @ Stoneliegh last year on the QSC stand.
