I've got a Torx set that's one of the "bit that fits into the socket
that goes onto the ratchet" types.  I can remember that it's very
tight to fit the bit in place but can't remember how I did it - it
might have been with the ratchet, but I might also have used a spanner
on the Torx bit.  Generally if I had big problems with a job then I
remember them well!

The gas ram is easily removed - just ease the metal clip out and it
will pop off.  In the case one of the gas rams on my H4, it happily
does that with the top mount on its own every time I lower the roof at
the moment.  Time for a new one I think....
