No. BC,B5 and IB5's will all fit fine, as Tony says early Zetec ones will fit as well, make sure they are front starter though as some of the later ones (around 1996) moved the starter to the rear. Before 1995 is fairly safe, after that the release bearing spigot got bigger and finding the correct size release bearing to match the CVH clutch is a pain.
Only the early (mk3 Escort, early Mk2 Fiesta) diesels had higher ratios, the later diesel boxes had the same standard ratios as the larger petrol engined cars. One from a smaller engined car will have lower gearing so give you better acceleration but lower top speed. There are some exceptions, the XR2i and RS1800i are low geared as well. The Escort RST is the same gearing as the XR2 so is a good bet if you want the LSD Don't forget if it comes from a car with larger rolling radius wheels/tyres you will need to swap the speedo gear in the gearbox with the one from your fiesta gearbox, do this before you fit the new gearbox !
