At Ford Dunton any battery on a fleet vehicle that had run flat due to the drain imposed by security systems was replaced. The late Gerry Lee, an electrician in the fleet workshop, devised a means of ensuring that the battery would not drain below the point where it would not allow a normal start but his idea was not implemented. Some battery companies have a similar concept. I think that they have a separate terminal for the security system. Many customised cars and others, rely on electrical locking, in the event of the battery being completely discharged, how would the owners, or emergency services personnel, gain entry to the vehicle without resorting to smashing windows?
