I am suffering a problem with my H4.

1.6 CVH carburetted engine, NOT injection.

I over heated the other day, was in a position not to stop so by the
time I had driven to a safe spot the needle was right off the end of
the temperature gauge. It actually destroyed the temperature sender
which I have since replaced.

Now if I fill up with water, I get about 5 miles, by which point the
water needs to be re-filled. When the car is stationary it does not
build up a puddle underneath, so I don’t think there is an external
leak.

Any suggestions?

I was thinking maybe the head gasket has gone, and leaking water into
the combustion chamber. Is this possible? (I wouldn’t say I have lost
Any power though) There are no bubbles/foaming in the oil when I dip
it, so I am pretty sure the water isn’t leaking into the oil.

Any help / suggestions greatly appreciated.

Regards

Kevin Rose.
