Dear All, Elen's H4 had a nasty mishmash of rubber pipes, cable ties, some silly ignition-powered "turbo super-dooper fuel economy" fan, and a very tired K&N, for its air intake system when we bought it. No problem, thought I, and bought a complete RS1800 air filter box and intake system cheap on eBay. I finally summoned the energy to fit it on Saturday and .... it wouldn't! The car has the shortened (attacked with an angle grinder long in the past, by the look of it) battery tray as described in the build manual but, even so, the air filter box is some 5mm in interference. I'd have to cut another 10mm off to give safe clearance for movement in the engine mounts, which would make the battery tray very small indeed - the existing battery actually overlaps the shortened tray as it is. Before I start fabricating a new air filter box and intake system, can anyone please advise whether this is a typical problem or is there a narrower Ford air filter box than the one for the RS1800?
