ok then, good news ........ sort of, ive pinned down the cause of my
terrible clonking whilst driving and thankfully its not something like
the subframe ready to drop off (I always tend to fear the worst)
what is happening is the left hand side bonnet pivot is loose on the
bonnet causing it to move in the region of 10mm up and down, the right
side is ok

now what ive noticed is this
the pivot bolts is not tight up to the chassis, i.e. the washer behind
the head spins, but the bolt is seized in the tube in the chassis so
it wont turn (believe me ive tried)

both nuts either side of the bonnet loop are loose causing the bonnet
to jump about on the pivot, temporarily ive nipped up the 2 nuts that
support the bonnet just enough to dampen its movement but not stop it
rotating,

Question
should there be a bush to support the bonnet pivot within the molding
on the bonnet or does the bonnet rely on being clamped by the 2x nuts
and 2x washers to support it?

if so am I right to assume I need to free off the bolt (thatll be fun,
ive just yanked on it as hard as i can) so it rotates and the bolts
need to be tightened on the bonnet? that looks about right to me but I
want to get this sorted by the 2nd

as ever all your help will be very much appreciated

regards
jin
