Hi and welcome,
I'd look at the rubber and angles before the springs and shocks
(unless there is something obviously broken or warn out). The tracking
only needs to be slightly out for them to slip about all over the
place. When I changed springs and shocks the drive after was like on
especially well lubricated ice! Admittedly I can spin my wheels with
a goodish setup but on super grippy track Tarmac and decent rubber you
shouldn't be spinning at 50 and a good right foot.
I've seen a car at llandow that the guy said he got it from under a
tree, was I think a 1.6 cvh turbo, the chap had in on the back of a
break down truck (he might have done breakdown work but not sure).
Have you got any pics online?
Good luck with her!

Hi folks one of the new boys here (I have only had my RS turbo 2+2
for a month or so).
Talking about using our cars, I thought you might find this
interesting.
Yesterday I used it for a track day at Castle Combe.
The car behaved well apart from getting a little warm which made me
slow down and short change so as to prevent damage.
I have no idea of lap times but suspect about 1min 33 and the car
was showing 110 mph on the aproach to Avon rise, I found that the
car would spin its wheels even at 50 on slower corners, so would
look into softer springs and more damping. (learning curve coming)
Wife Diane was my passenger and she enjoyed it, but has sat beside
me and driven too for the last 25 years on track!
The biggest surprise of the day was meeting the guy who rescued it
from being sat under a tree for 2 years and tuned it to its present
state (Farndon rods balanced and using a CVH 300 cam etc) He claimed
that it was unbeatable at Landow and was a car that he and his
family (his daughter was there too) loved until he sold it 4 years
ago, he also showed me the hidden switch that brings in the
Superchip upgrade.
Our daughter was there yesterday too and took me round in her 350
bhp Subaru (which did not feel faster than mine) I love the looks
she gets when she takes her helmet off and the lads find that a good
looking girl has just whuped them (I am clearly biased but she was a
model).
In conclusion then, it needs the suspension tweaking and a bigger
rad (any idea's please).
On the road this car is more like a motorbike and overtaking is a
punch in the back possibility on very short straights indeed!
I will be putting a short video on Utube about this track day soon.
Enjoying reading all the posts every day.

Subject: Re: [Quantum Owners] 20,000 miles...
Neil,
Congratulations. Its one of the good things about Quantums - They are
used! Mine is a Yellow 2+2 and is our daily driver. It has gone
through 36,000 miles in the 9 years since I finished the build. We
don't do much mileage a year at present being quite close to work or
it would be higher. Next year at 10 years on the road I plan a major
upgrade and a bit of a refurb. That should take it to 20 years of
good serviceability.
But I recall there are a few folk out there who have done 100,000 + in
theirs, so I claim no records just lots of enjoyment.

Eleven thousand of those have been in the two years that I've had it
(and I still can't see any wear in the tyres!)
Here's to twenty k more.
