I have discovered that I didn't get away quite as lightly from my knock last week as I thought. I had a knocking coming from the front offside when driving and it felt as though the wheel was falling off. I replaced the o/s cv joint assuming that was the problem. For the first 25 miles it was great, no knocking and a smooth drive. Now it has come back with a vengeance. I have jacked up the car and on turning the o/s wheel by hand the entire engine moves on its mounts, suddenly snapping back into place then starting the whole process again. I think that the inner cv joint is jamming and causing this. I think the reason it was ok for a while is because the joint was messed around with a lot as i tried to get the driveshaft back into the wheel carrier, the driveshaft was being pushed in and out of the inner joint.
in the event that it is considered likely that it is the inner cv joint, what options are open to me as I am struggling to find an inner cv joint for the 1.4 fiesta setup. Are there any others that could fit. comments, observations or suggestions welcome. Mark -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Quantum Owners Group" group.
