Having used my Dolomite sprint for years on trackdays I have been plagued by
hot running engines!
An oil cooler is highly effective at keeping the engine temp sensible as is
putting on the heater on full (if this is not fitted try using the plumbing to
add a small rad somewhere).
I would not remove the stat cos that makes it run too cool.
Hope this may be of some use.
Cheers Jon.

Not too sure if my vents are effective or not.

Sits around 80/90 normally, up to 100 and then back down on the fan. I had
thought of ducting the air into the rad which I am pretty sure will improve
things, but as usual this is just an idea as yet. The favourite material seems
to be the stuff they make 'for sale' signs out of.

I had issues when I bought the car, losing water and overheating. I replaced
the stat, stuck a new pressure cap on, flushed the system and had the leaky rad
re-cored with a double core. I would have thought this should be enough, but on
hot days with the boot planted I sometimes feel like I still need more cooling.

Having said that, it is tight as a drum and even though it gets hot, it does
not loose a drop of water.

Not sure about the Sunday run, as I have to be at the parentals in St Neots
at 12ish 1ish. I have asked Cleggy what the finish time is, as I would love to
come for the photo op...
