This was the basis of most "Kit-In-A-Box" cars from old Q and what I have on
my H4. I have a Fiesta wiring harness only modified on three connectors to
mate to the Escort Zetec engine fittings and this accepted the electric
window harness with no problem. A cursory word of warning however! Where
the harness goes through the frame and then on through the doors, make sure
that the wires cannot fret or fracture in use or you may have some
interesting experiences if certain wires touch when they break. This
happened to me and it "spiked" the ECU to the point that it turned the
injectors on full time - how to soak the catalyst with fuel. The white
smoke could be seen for miles! Luckily, a repair to the harness and a hard
reset solved the problem.
If you have the wiring harness and a suitable socket into which to plug it
then go for it!

I have a 98 ford escort with central locking operated by a key only
i.e. no remote, and electric front windows. Would it be feasible to
use these in the H4 and if so what problems will I need to overcome?.
Or would I be better off buying an after market unit/units.
