I chickened out of doing the headlining on my saloon rebuild, i paid a
local trimmer about £300 to make and fit it.
He used a more standard, less stretchy foam backed material than Quantum
used originally.
Because of this it was made as one main section plus separate parts for
each pillar and below the side windows all stitched together.
Somehow he managed to make the entire thing of site from a few
measurements he took off the car and then come back and fit it.
He quickly made a couple of T shaped wooden props (like you'd use for
plaster board on ceilings) to help hold the lining up while he was
fitting it.

Hi Mark,
The headlining is not easy; it took me 3 goes before I was happy.
The most important thing I found was the type of material being used.
At one point old Quantum could supply a material that was very similar
to the carpet people use to trim out the backs of vans and
loudspeakers, it was however thinner. I used contact spray adhesive.
The following is how I did it
1. Draw a centre line front to back on the inside of the roof and on
the back of the headlining.
2. The first bit to attach is along the centre lines between the
sunroof and the rear window.
3. Now work from the centre line until the back half of the car is
done. The hardest part is getting the material to stretch around the
side window returns.
4. After completing the back, it’s a case of moving forwards, where
the tricky part is around the beam at the top of the windscreen.
Recent photographs of my headlining can be found at

. It’s now been on for 20 years.
Good luck,
Steve
