The rear bumper is bolted across the narrow inside rear panel just behind where the boot lid closes and it is also screwed either side to the wings. The number of fixings was open to interpretation by the builder, particularly as the outermost bolts are very awkward to reach and the wing screws tend to pull out so may well have been replaced by bolts or reinforcement.

I did something similar in a churchyard whilst looking for the resting place of certain ancestors. The bumper was easy enough to rebuild but finding a yellow paint to match the aging and rapidly going transparent yellow gelcoat has proved to be difficult!

Much to my annoyance, 10 days ago I messed up reversing into my own
drive to the detriment of the rear bumper of my H4. I appear to have
pulled one side off (drivers side) and split the moulding slightly in
the centre. My query is...how is the thing held on...and what is it
made of? It looks to me as if it's bolted at both ends and clipped
onto the side panels...and made of fibreglass / grp.
Had I built the car, I would know this stuff...but I didn't and my
build manual isn't too helpful (I'm not even sure that it's complete).
The plan would be to remove, repair and refix, of course...am I likely
to find this straightforward ?
Thanks
