Are you sure its a 1600 Pinto? the 2 litre has a slightly longer belt and is not the same, it would not be the first lie on engine size in a kit car as my Robin Hood that I had was supposed to have an 1100 cc engine and yet it was a 2 litre Pinto, an engine that was only as small as 1300cc.
Cheers Jon

If we're talking Pinto engines I think I have a spare belt
somewhere... I will count the number of teeth if I can find it. Wish
me luck!

What am I doing wrong ? I seem unable to get a new timing belt on.

Access not a problem, the engine is out.

I have followed the manual etc, and checked I have the right part
(based on age and engine size), but it is so tight that I cannot get
it on with the tensioner correctly in place. (I can only get 1 bolt
in).

The old belt is slightly longer (fits neatly over the existing belt),
but has about 20 missing teeth, So am I correct to assume it has
stretched ? Does a timing belt that is a few mm longer exist for
Ford ? i.e. have I got the wrong part ?

Is there a special method to make it fit - I have tried brute force
already !

Thanks

Andrew
