Thanks Pete for your helpful reply: I'll now send an eMail to the bank and ask 
them to check things out. Regarding addresses, I used the Contact page on the 
website for my eMail enquiries and the account numbers on the 2010 renewals 
letter for the bank transfer arrangements.
Regarding rudeness in eMails....we are all busy people (no doubt soem more than 
others) but volunteers are just that....volunteers. Being rude just gets 
peoples 
backs up and achieves nothing: it doesn't even make one feel better !

I've spoken to Gail (membership) and she's checked all of her email
accounts and not received anything.  You're not the first person to
say that you've not had a reply to an email (although some have been a
lot more rude about it....) - what address did you use?
