I first asked about this in September last year...Hamish replied, thank you, but I'm still interested in ideas: I want a third / auxiliary / high level brake light on my H4: I had a Spartan once, written off by a guy in a diesel BX when he shunted the rear because, he said, he couldn’t see my brake lights. Not wishing the H4 to go the same way, I have tried to find a suitable unit that will fit on the boot lid. I have considered fitting something to the roll over bar that would shine out through the rear window when the roof is on, but routing the wiring will be difficult to do neatly, and attaching the LED strip to the rollover bar will be awkward. I tried to get hold of an Audi TT convertible unit, but the one I was sent was actually for a Coupe, so as it is designed to mount inside the car, may be not too weather resistant, so probably no use. Anthony Stafford produces an after-market unit (which would do except it’s going to look very “stuck on as an after thought” with visible fixings) and the later Mazda MX5’s have a suitable unit that fits on top of the boot lid as well, but I haven't found one yet: there's a chrome cover for one on eBay...but not the light unit itself. I looked at a Ford Street Ka unit also, but it appears to fit into the fairly carefully pressed boot lid panel and I don’t want to have to cut the boot lid about. There are Rover 25 spoilers with integral lights available on eBay …I remember a picture of an H4 for sale that had a spoiler with integral brake light fitted…but what I want is for the thing to fix with just 3 holes: two to secure it and a third to take the wire, all hidden by the unit itself. What have other people done ? Any suggestions ? Bill Jackson
