Quick point on rear lights: - fog lights must be separated from the brake light by 4" on centres minimum. My preference is for outside side lights, inside brake lights, and outside fog lights - so a 'stop'n'tail' lamp in the side/ fog position. - fog lights must be symmetrical, central, or fitted to the offside only. - indicators must be amber; they can be contained within the same enclosure as side or brake lights, but you can't change the colour of a light which is on (e.g. turn a red sidelight amber when indicating) so you need separate LEDs even if interspersed on the same circuit board. - from memory, the only rule about reversing lights is that you can only show them when actually going in reverse - again, you still need to show other lights
Most LED light units are flashed at high frequency (a few tens of hertz) because the LED is perceptually brighter when overdriven in short pulses than run continually for the same average power. I find this tends to irritate; as my eye moves across one of them, I see it in several places flash-flash-flash which is most disturbing. Similarly with the slower rate flashing bike lamps (an exception allows these on bikes) by all means fit them but *please* also fit a solid light. The flash raises attention but is so short that it can't be located; I'm sure you'd rather I knew where you were than spent a few seconds looking for you! Neil p.s. the LED lights on the back of the current Mondeo are rather nice. But my favourite is the back of Guilietta! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Quantum Owners Group" group.
