Is there anyone out there who has actually done this ? I know of the MGF
electric column that Darren fitted to his car and I've heard many tales of
the Vauxhall Corsa B or C column being used as well. Now I need to know the
answers to a few practicalities. I've decided to utilise a Corsa C column
as this has been used in other kit car applications...so the pitfalls
should be well known? BUT, surely the Corsa column is not a direct fit to
the standard fiesta steering rack ? I know Darren changed the pinion to one
from a mk 4 Escort and his MGF column fitted straight on...and it was
possible to straighten up the column in the car (it is offset in standard
form) because of the double universal in the lower column....I know I will
need to rig up a mounting bracket for the new column...and it has been
suggested that I could perhaps mount the Ford Switch gear in place of the
Corsa stuff, to save matching and rewiring. What would be really helpful
is if I actually knew exactly what was required...a few photos to look at
or a completed installation to look at. I'm sure lots of us with saloons
will be interested in this?
