if anyone is looking to insure a provisional driver alongside a full license , give the coop a try. they don't load up the policy and its excess for provisional drivers.when i asked why they said it was due to the fact that the main driver was always going to be with the prov at all times anyway! when the driver passes their test for two years their personal excess increases by 150 as a new driver , then reverts to the normal policy excess. my wife has a provisional license for nigh on 20 years(she has never bothered to take a test in case you wondered) and having stopped lessons 10 years ago ,likes to drive me around ,bonus! a lot of insurance companies see this as she must be a horrific driver to have not passed a test but that really isn't the case .
