It's certainly practical, it's not uncommon to convert production steel
cars so a Quantum shouldn't be a problem.
Often though, the gearbox is kept, just using 1st and 2nd and replacing
the engine with the electric motor.
I last looked at this about 8 years ago, i'm sure things have moved on a
fair bit since.
Somebody was converting a quantum saloon a long time ago, never heard if
it was finished.
