Why use a direct heater that has all the problems of not liking to be
cleaned etc., when you can use a hot air blower. On my Beauford with its
clear plastic rear screen there was no way I could use a stick-on heater but
purely by chance I came across a small ceramic based heater with its own
blower and fitted this in the centre of the rear shelf (not large enough to
be a parcel shelf) and it worked like magic as it actually drove off any
moisture accumulated on the screen at the same time as heating the surface
to remove external accumulations of ice, whatever. Unfortunately I have no
recollection of where I bought it as it sat on a shelf for a couple of years
before being installed.
The heater is simply marked Ceramic Heater and is distributed by Summit
Accessories Ltd of Banbury OX16 4TJ. I have no connection with said group
but do wish that I had bought more than one of these very useful heaters.
Maybe these or something similar are available from your local friendly
Motor Factors? I must admit that I have never seen any more at shows such
as Stoneleigh

I haven't used a Clear View one....... My Rickman Space Ranger has a
stick on one like the clearview. I do not know how well the rear screen was
cleaned before the heater was attached to it, but over time it is falling
off. I also don't know how old it is! Not very much help. I would like to
try another, and the clear view looks as though it could be good. I think I
will try one if it is a fraction of the price of a new window.

elements with special and expensive glue, euro 23,- unfortunately It did
not work out as planned . . .
a good secondhand with working heating is hard to find
So I either need a new rear window - not available in the Netherlands!!
only on special order euro 300+ from pilkington or order a Clear View II -
Defroster - http://www.frostfighter.com/clear-view-defrosters-about.htm and
replace the heating elements.
has any one ever used one?
