I didn't explain it very well........That was my thought if the parts weren't available. Would some thicker cable (maybe from a boat chandlers) be better than bike cable? If you look for a replacement mechanism remember the 3 doors are a different length to 5 doors (though either can be use the motor will be in a different place). And the design of the mechanism changed completely on the latter Mk3.5 Fiesta. I have finally had chance to remove it & see what the problem is. I found that the lower cable had seized in the outer casing. Upon freeing it most of the threads disintegrated. Does anyone know if it's possible to get replacement cables or am I looking at a full mechanism.
