Don, The cable had corroded on my window mechanism. I managed to repair it by getting a slider (plastic), cable & cable winder from a mk5 fiesta. Couldn't use the whole electric window unit as the channel has only 1 'U' shaped mounting bracket. I must admit my channel/runner/guide is 'S' shaped so was easy to remove.
