Dear All, It is with a heavy heart that I've made the decision to abandon my 2+2. I built the car back in 1998 from an XR2 and used it for 16 years, covering only 23500 miles in that time. Then a year or so ago, the head gasket went and after rebuilding with a new one, it was apparent that something had been bent within the engine as there was a slight knocking noise. I took the decision to take out the existing 1.6 CVH and associated gearbox, and sourced a 2.0L Blacktop Zetec and gearbox from a Ford Focus. I've made a start in cutting the engine frame in order to fit the new lump in, but I've come to the conclusion that it's going to be a bigger job than I had anticipated and I just don't have the time, so I need to get the car gone to free up my garage space. I am therefore asking if anyone would be interested in buying either the complete car, as is, or various parts. The body-shell and associated panels are all in very good condition, having generally only ever been out on sunny days and always stored in my garage - The yellow gelcoat is as good as new and it would be a crying shame to scrap it! I paid over £600 for the hardtop, which has only ever been used on the car in the garage! There is obviously loads of bits and pieces I could take off but ideally, if I could get rid of the whole car in one go, it would be easier. If anyone is interested in either the car as a whole, or parts etc, please get in touch and we can discuss in more detail.
