Interesting subject and as I have found on other car forums very variable opinions. I have 2 Quantum 2+2's in my possesion and my first one had some standard type shocks fitted and the car was almost lethal with its RS turbo lump as it tried successfully to torque steer all over the road when full throttle was applied. Jim Hearne and others gave sound advice and I fitted adjustable Spax with 1.4 Fiesta standard front springs and 1100 Fiesta rears and the car is up there with the Lotus 7 types on track days. My second 2+2 has Gaz adjustables fitted and when I bought the car it did not handle well with a soggy rear that steered the car on corners and I found that going stiffer (I think 4 clicks) cured the problem and it handles fine. As for spring rates I dont know what is fitted but the fronts seem approx same as the 1.4 Fiesta as does the rear seem the same as 1100 Fiesta neither car is too low and despite our Hampshire third world potholed tracks does not bottom out.
I like adjustables merely because you can make the car suit yourself.

In regards to the rear springs, you said you just left the springs you had on. Would it be worth getting front coilovers instead and leaving the rears as they are? Here's the link:
