Hiya Q2-002 had exactly the same thing for 12 months... Would run great, then just splutter and stop. It would tickover all day with no problems once it started, but would not run under load - unless I had my foot to the boards.
Turned out it was crud in the carb - the steel fuel line fell apart on me (different story!). When there was load on the engine - there is more suction, and the grit or whatever got stuck in the jet. When you stopped, the grit fell down, so it ran properly until the flow moved the grit up again. Quick way to cure it was shown by 'the very nice man with the flashy lights truck' - we took the air filter off the top of the carb - put the palm of the hand over the air intake, remove the LT lead from the coil so it will not start, and crank for 30 secs. This creates a vacuum which sucks the grit either out of the system, or causes it to stick in the jet, so you can find and clean it :) I have now got a fuel filter in the system :) TTFN James T Q2-002 -- -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Quantum Owners Group" group.
