My white 1600 2+2 has always had a zzzzzzzzzz noise when accelerating from a standing start and I wondered what was causing the noise.Today I grovelled under it and found the alternator blades were shiny and thesubframe a little polished.Looking further revealed the lower engine mount in the fronthad sheared allowing the engine to move enough to make contact.I did not have a Ford one to hand but did have a Mazda MX5engine mount and as it’s the same thickness bolted it in. Success was mine andthe car is smoother and quieter and a pleasure to drive.CheersJon
