Looks like the connector has corroded and then the resulting high resistance joint has overheated and melted the connector.

It's also possible that somebody has fitted higher wattage bulbs which won't have helped.

You can by replacement connectors fairly easily but you will need somebody with crimp tool to fit it, and you may need to cut the wires back a few inches to find an un-corroded section.
