The relay on the side of the switch is for the indicators/hazard.
There is one for the intermittent wipe but it's in the fusebox, it's a
tall red one.
There are 2 sorts on the Mk3 Fiesta, the early ones only had one time
interval for the intermittent wipe and had a 4 pin relay.
The later ones had a variable interval with a dial on the end of the
stalk, these have a 5 pin relay.
You can upgrade the earlier sort to the later sort by changing the
stalk, relay and add the extra wire that links the 2.
If you put a 4 pin relay into a later car i think you just get a single
interval, not it not working at all.
Do the wipers park correctly in normal operation ?

Help / advice, please. The intermittent wipe system on my Si based H4
has never worked. The switch has a downward arrow for this, but
nothing happens. I assume that this function is relay controlled, but
which relay? Is it the one that plugs into the switch assembly on the
left of the steering column? If not, what does this relay do? and
where is the one that does the intermittent wipe set-up?
Thanks in anticipaton!
