Hi Steve,
Strangely I've also been fiddling with brakes today! More of car probs in my next note. You could try a search in the microcat for what's called the base part number (that's the middle part of the part number), in his case 2L625 which may throw up parts from later models which have minor differences (or may even be the same - it has been known). Armed with a later FINIS number you may strike lucky. Being a 71bb part suggests the original being 46 years old so they kept the part going a while. I'm suspicious that they (FORD) have in the last few years changed finis numbers to increase the prices (after all it's 'not the same part' any more). I also have a suspicion that there are warehouses full of these parts and Ford don't supply them, but if you asked the Ford Main Dealer to fix if he'd get the part and charge a fortune to fix the car.
I'm not getting cynical in old age .... I was like it years ago!
Martin

Subject: [Quantum Owners] Hand Brake Stops

I'm trying to track down some new hand brake stops for my Xtreme. Google
searches have provided me with FINIS 1484693 and part number 71BB 2L625 AA
(see http://www.fordopedia.org/parts-catalog/finis/1484693), but I've not
been able to find anyone stocking them. I believe these are fitted on quite
a few Fords, including Sierra and MK3 Escort, so I will try Ford parts, but
I'm guessing I will be better finding new old stock.

Anyone got any spare, or have suggestions for a source?

Regards,
Steve
