Some of the relays have a diode in series with the coil so they only work with power in one direction. Some of them have a resistor across the coil. There are also 5 pin relays that have 1 change over contact and some that have 2 normally open contacts. The best way is to look closely at the little diagram Ford tend to put on the side of the relay and make sure it matches.
Watch out if you use aftermarket relays as the are 2 different pinout standards for car type relays, same arrangement of pins but the internal connections are different.
